Breakthrough 09

January 20, 2009

We started a 14 day fast this past Sunday here at Journey Life Church. I felt that God was asking us to focus on Him. I had alot of people coming to me and saying I need a breakthrough in my finances or my personal life or my marriage. When you read thru the scriptures you see men and women who needed direction or God’s favor who sought God thru prayer and fasting.

In fact three of the richest and wisest men Joseph, Daniel, Solomon fasted. Why because they had to, No because they knew the power of fasting and prayer. They knew that like Paul said I die to my flesh daily that there is no better way to die to our flesh than to not eat.  It is our way of saying God you are so important that I am willing to give of my desire for food. It is telling King stomach you have got to die.

I encourage you during this time to write out some specific things you are asking God for answers to or need a break through for. Seek His face, read the word.If you missed Sundays message check it out on the web at www.journeylifechurch.com .

PS: Drink lots of Water, it helps flush out the toxins.

The Things That Make Me Go “Thanks”

November 27, 2008

I am so thankful to be living in this time and day. There are many challenges and struggles but there are also many rewards. One reward is that I can freely say “thanks”. Thanks for all that God has done and is going to do, thanks for an awesome family and thanks for an awesome church. This past Sunday I challenged everyone to make a list of the things that they are thankful for. If you missed the sermon you can check it out online at www.journeylifeonline.com . God has blessed us all, if you and I would take the time to write down the (specific) things that we are thankful for list would grow longer every day. You see everyday God is giving us things to be thankful for. Here is just a few of the things I am thankful for.

  • I am thankful for God’s grace. God’s grace is sufficient for me
  • My awesome wife Kasha. She is an inspiration to me. She takes great care of me. Not to mention she is gorgeous.
  • My Wives cooking, she is amazing in the kitchen. Note my larger size belly.
  • My Kids
    • Jordyn is my little girl and she is so beautiful and tender hearted.
    • Gabe is my little helper, he has so much energy and is so fun to be around.
    • Josiah is my cuddlier, I love it when he cuddles with me, he is so cute right.
  • My Parents, Hollis and Susan Henley- they are a huge supporter in all ways.
  • My godly grand parents. Their prayers and example are priceless.
  • My inlaws Fred and Linda Nelson. Thanks for raising such a Godly daughter she is incredible. Also thanks for  being such strong supporters of us.
  • Journey Life Church- What a great church to be a part of.
  • Journey Life Staff- I could write all day about them but I won’t. They are a great group who support me and this church greatly.
  • Mount Hope Church- There wisdom and support is priceless.
  • Godly men who challenge me: Perry Noble, Mark Batterson, Craig Groeschel, Dave Williams, Brother Leach.
  • My Laptop.
  • Gods provision. He has always provided for us.
  • Potatoes- I love them in almost all forms.
  • My grandmas apple pie recipe, the best apples pies I have ever had, and praise God my wife can make them. Yum, Yum.
  • I am thankful for a healthy family. No major sickness or disease. Praise God.
  • And the list keeps on going.

Kasha and I want to say “Happy Thanksgiving ” our prayer is that you and your family enjoy your time together. This season is a great time to remember all that God has done for you. Take time to make a list of the things you are thankful for and add to that list when more things come to your mind. Happy Thanksgiving, don’t eat too much. I know I will.

Pre-Sunday Thoughts

November 22, 2008
  • I am so excited about this Sunday.
  • Why is it because last Sunday was amazing and God really showed up? Nope.
  • Is it because people were filled last week with the Holy Spirit. Nope.
  • It is because God is just getting started with us and this church. You see God shows up every week. The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead is in our midst.  The difference is that last week people in the congregation were seeking Him and hungry for more of God. The presence of God is there we just have to be willing to go after it.
  • Will the service go the same way?  Probably not.  There is no magical formula during the  service that will cause the Holy Spirit to move in a certain way. The Holy Spirit will draw men and women towards Him, He will convict people of their sins. But to come expecting the service to go the same way is foolish. We should be asking God for more.
  • Romans 6:1-4 1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
  • In fact we should come expecting even more for the service. We should come expecting to hear the word of God preached and challenge our hearts.
  • We should come ready to worship and give God our all.  Not worrying what people think around us.
  • I am excited because the God I serve is alive and is drawing new people every week to come and hear the word of God preached and lived.
  • We are a community who Loves God, Loves People, and Loves Life.

PS: Don’t forget to bring your canned goods for the Holt Food Bank.

Sundays Service was Amazing!

November 17, 2008

God is so amazing. Now I know that you probably already knew that but I have got to let it be known. Yesterdays service goes in the top ten of services I have been privileged to be a part of. God’s presence was so thick you could feel it all around. I know that people were healed and set free from addictions and struggles. I know that people were filled with the Holy Ghost. I want to say thank you God for loving us and pouring out your spirit upon us. We love you God and are amazed at what you are doing. May we be vessels to be poured out on our community to show your love?

I want this post to be all about what God did yesterday in the service and what he is doing in your life now so if He did something amazing in your life then leave a comment talking about it. I can’t wait to read all of them. Let speak of how Great Our God is.

Here is a run own of the service, (Unfortuntely there was not a recording of the service because there really was no sermon delivered)

The worship set was coming to an end, as I was standing thier in Gods presence there was overwhelming sense of the grace of God, as I came up on the stage I knew it was going to be different, I said lets sing it again, and so we continued it was so powerfully in this version (Chris Tomlin Found Here) it says My Chains are Gone i’ve been set free. You could free people being set free. The song came to an end and I felt lead to give an altar call, I shared about coming into a relationship with Christ. I talked about an apple and how I could tell you all day long how good the apple was but until you tasted it you wouldn’t know. I said we are going to pray and if you have never had a relationship with Christ come down front and I want to pray with you. We stood there worshipping and no one came down at first then after I had closed my eyes for a moment when I opened them there was a woman standing up crying with her family gathered around her and supporting her. Praise God I still felt there were more, I prayed again and then I looked up and a man was standing up front with family and friends all around him. it was so powerful I lead them in the sinners prayer and through many tears and joy they came into a relationship with Christ. But God wasn’t done yet. I turned to Carl and said I don’t know what to do keep on worshiping he played amazing grace again.

We were all on cload nine by this point, people were worshipping God with everything they had. Hands were being raised and people were experienceing Gods presence. As i was standing on the side I felt God say last week you intorduced the congegation to the Holy Spiirt this week they are going to experience him. I then started to read from Acts 2 as I felt God leading me and I said this week you are going to experience the Holy Spirit if you want, come down to the altars and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit come and see what the apple (Holy Spirit) tastes like.

People flooded the altars, people got filled with the baptsim of the Holy Spirit with the evedence of speaking in tongues, some got healed, others got slain in the Holy Spirit (overwhelmed by the presence of God to where you colaspe in his presence) it was all out people worshipping God with everything they had. The worship team started playing “We are Hungry” it was so powerful. People were seeking God like I have never seen in our church. It was life changing and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do this coming Sunday.
