Stay the Course

Have you ever taken a trip and got side tracked along the way? You start out with a goal and a plan on how to get to where you are going. But somehow along the way you see something off in the distance that looks appealing or fun. Or maybe you see a different path that you think will get you there faster. So you decide to take a look. You get off at an exit to take a different road. Your intention is not too take you from the final designation but too get you there faster or to have some fun along the way.

God has called us on a journey; this journey is sometimes long and difficult. Along the way there are many distractions and exits. When we take these detours not only is the trip taking longer but we are picking up extra baggage. We think that a different road is faster but the truth is no matter how fast it is you are off the path God called you to.

One of my hardest struggles in leading Journey is staying to the path God has called us to. I know that God has huge plans for this church and our community. But as we travel down this road it is easy to look at what other churches are doing and think maybe if we did that we would grow. Or to say if we did this we would grow faster. Yet God has called us to travel His road. He has never said it would be easy but He did say we wouldn’t have to travel alone. He has a plan and a vision for our lives and this church.

The vision of Journey is not going to be found in any other church. This is a God vision and we must stay to the course and travel the road God has called us to. Let me know your thoughts of how you have stayed to the course and what God is speaking to you. More on this tomorrow.
